SILB member participates in Best Buddies ride

Doris McQuaid, a member of Soroptimist International of Laguna Beach, or SILB, and her husband rode their bikes 100 miles from Carmel to Hearst Castle last month in support of Best Buddies, an organization founded by the Shriver family to help those with emotional and developmental disabilities fit into society, a press release stated.

SILB designed a special pink polka-dot jersey, specifically for this event, for McQuaid to wear.

"I introduced myself and the Laguna Beach Soroptimist organization to Maria Shriver," McQuaid said in a statement. "She was impressed with the Soroptimist mission of helping woman and children and grateful for the support for her Best Buddies fundraiser. "My husband and I raised $2,850 for this event."

SILB's mission works to improv the lives of women and girls locally and around the world.
