City needs committee volunteers

The City Council is looking for eight Laguna Beach residents to sit on two city committees.

The council is currently accepting applications for the Recreation Committee and the Parking, Traffic and Circulation Committee through Feb. 5. Interviews will be conducted at 6 p.m. on Feb. 12 by the council at its regular meeting in Council Chambers, 505 Forest Ave.

The city is looking for three people to fill two-year terms on the Recreation Committee and five people to fill two-year terms on the Parking, Traffic and Circulation Committee. Both terms will expire at the end of February 2015.

The Recreation Committee, which meets on the first Monday of the month, oversees the community’s recreation and parks needs.

The Parking, Traffic and Circulation Committee, which meets on the fourth Thursday of the month, acts in an advisory capacity on parking, traffic, traffic complaints, circulation, transit and the Parking Management Plan.

Anyone interested in serving should fill out an application from the City Clerk’s office or the city’s website. Applications must be filed by 5 p.m. on Feb. 5. All applicants will be interviewed.

Offices closed for holiday

The Susi Q Senior Center will reopen after New Year’s Day after closing for the holidays. City Hall also will observe the holiday.

The center will reopen at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday after being closed for two weeks.

City Hall will close on New Year’s Day, but police, fire, lifeguard, bus service and other essential functions will be operating normally.
