School district employees recognized

Thirteen Laguna Beach Unified School District employees were honored for their years of service at Tuesday’s school board meeting.

Three of the 13 employees celebrated 25 years with the district, while one employee was honored for 20 years. Five employees were recognized for 15 years of service, and four were honored for 10 years.

“Our office staff, aides, grounds and maintenance, kitchen and library staff members work hard every day to ensure our students’ well-being,” Supt. Sherine Smith said in a prepared statement. “They provide a sense of history and continuity that enhances the learning of our students.”

Honorees in attendance received an orchid and certificate.

Peggy Legault, a health clerk at Top of the World Elementary School; Chris Seapin, instructional aide at El Morro Elementary School; and Greg Swirczek, maintenance at Laguna Beach High School, have been with the district for 25 years.

Gail Converse, instructional aide at Thurston Middle School was honored for 20 years while Roberto Arevalo, custodian at TOW; Martha Moeller, instructional aide at El Morro; Ron Monn, custodian at Laguna Beach High;, Di Riegler, health clerk at El Morro;, and Deborah Shields, textbook clerk at Laguna Beach High, received 15-year recognition.

Patty Ingram, who works in the cafeteria at Thurston; Allison Isambert, secretary at the district office;, Kalven Lee, athletic field custodian at Laguna Beach High;, and Kevin Yates, publicity chairwoman for the school district office, marked 10 years with Laguna Beach Unified.
