Panel to review needs of Fairview Park

Share

A newly reconvened group that will review various aspects of Costa Mesa’s Fairview Park will hold its first meeting Thursday.

The nine members of the Fairview Park Citizens Advisory Committee, who were appointed by the council in April, are scheduled to meet from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in Conference Room 1A on the first floor of City Hall, 77 Fair Drive.

Following a request from Mayor Pro Tem Steve Mensinger, the council voted in March to reconvene the ad hoc committee. The group is tasked with advising the Parks and Recreation Commission and City Council on ongoing projects, the master plan and proposals for the nearly 200-acre park.

The meeting’s agenda includes the selection of a chair and vice chair, an overview of the park’s master plan, reviews of projects and the development of goals.

The at-large committee members are Ron Amburgey, Terry Cummings, Brett Eckles, Steve Smith, David Stiller, Anna Vrska, Richard J. Mehren, Dennis Popp and Lee Ramos.

Smith is a former columnist for the Daily Pilot. Stiller also serves on the city’s Finance Advisory Committee and the board for the Costa Mesa Senior Center.

Mensinger and Councilwoman Sandy Genis, as well as parks commissioners Dean Abernathy and Bob Graham, serve as liaisons to the committee. City staff will also support the group.

The second meeting is scheduled for July 10 at the Emergency Operations Center within the Police Department headquarters, 99 Fair Drive, next to City Hall.
