Wahoo’s joins water district outreach campaign

Share

A public outreach campaign by the Mesa Water District this month aims to increase water awareness and benefit a local nonprofit, officials said.

The “Wahoo’s, Water & Waves” campaign will launch at 2 p.m. Thursday at Wahoo’s Fish Taco, 1862 Placentia Ave., Costa Mesa.

The campaign promotes Mesa Water’s supply of safe, drinkable tap water and the use of environmentally friendly refillable water bottles.

Throughout November, those who buy a kids meal at any of Costa Mesa’s three Wahoo’s locations can purchase for $2 a special water bottle bearing the Mesa Water and Wahoo’s logos.

Proceeds will benefit Orange County Coastkeeper, a Costa Mesa-based nonprofit that seeks to protect and preserve marine habitats and watersheds, according to its website.

Thursday’s launch event will feature speakers including Mesa Water President Jim Fisler, Wahoo’s founder Wing Lam and Hurley’s vice president of global outreach, Ben Edwards.

Costa Mesa-based clothing company Hurley is also helping sponsor the “Wahoo’s, Water & Waves” campaign.
