George E. Staight December 27, 1947 - November 12, 2013

George Staight peacefully passed away at home on November 12th, at the age of 65, after battling stomach cancer. He is survived by Lisa, his wife of 42 years, and their children Patrick, Kevin, and Annie.

He was a dedicated family man who always put others before himself. He was a parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church and sang with LagunaTunes. He was an avid camper and hiker who loved the outdoors. He enjoyed scuba diving off the California coast and snowboarding on the slopes of Snow Summit even into his 60s. Over the past 20 years, George has been passionate about the Boy Scouts of America, and served as Scoutmaster of Laguna Beach’s Troop 35. He guided and motivated both his sons to earn the rank of Eagle Scout and he remained active in scouting until his death.

George had a big personality with a big heart. For those who knew him, his presence and support are irreplaceable, and he will be severely missed.

The funeral mass will be on Friday, November 22 at 11:00am at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 1042 Temple Terrace, Laguna Beach, CA 92651. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in George’s honor to a charity of the donor’s choice.
