South Coast Plaza will ring in the Chinese Lunar New Year — a week in advance, anyway — with festivities Thursday and Friday in the shopping center’s Jewel Court area.

With the Year of the Horse set to officially begin Jan. 31, live performers from Zhejiang province, including dancers, acrobats and opera singers, will give demonstrations from 6 to 7 p.m. and 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. both days. Artisans from the region will also make crafts in the area from 1 to 6 p.m. both days.

In addition, a photography exhibit titled “Beautiful Zhejiang,” which features images of the province, will be on display through Friday on Level 1 in front of Assouline.
