An early morning crash ended with an upturned car on the front lawn of a Newport Beach home Saturday.

The driver of a black Hyundai Tucson lost control on Dover Drive near Harrow Place around 6:45 a.m., Newport Beach police said.

After crashing into a light pole, the car hit a tree on a home’s front lawn and ended up on its left side, resting against a retaining wall, according to a news release.

The Newport Beach Fire Department responded and found the semi-conscious driver trapped in the car.

First-responders pulled the driver out from the passenger-side door and took him to the hospital with some signs of trauma but in stable condition.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, but police said alcohol appears to be a factor.
