DUI patrol planned for weekend

Officers from the Laguna Beach Police Department will be on DUI saturation patrols Friday from 6 p.m. to 3 a.m. in an effort to stop and arrest alcohol- and drug-impaired drivers.

“Over the course of the past three years, DUI collisions have claimed one life and resulted in 37 injury crashes harming 52 of our friends and neighbors,” said Lt. Jeff Calvert in a news release.

Funding for the program is from a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
