Great events coming up

Coastline Pilot

If you’re in Laguna Beach on Saturday, stop by Thalia Street beach between 2 and 4:30 p.m., when I will be hosting a surf-a-thon along with pro surfer Jon Rose other celebrity guests. While the general public is encouraged to join us in the water or just hang out on the beach and enjoy the action, this annual event will be raising money for Costa Verde International School, located in Sayulita, Mexico, and revered as Mexico’s first green and sustainable school.

After the surfing event, there will be a fundraiser from 5 to 8 p.m. at Mozambique. A $25 donation gets you in the door to enjoy live music, raffle items, and of course, food and drinks. So don’t miss it.

Another great event coming up June 19 and 20 at Huntington Beach Pier will be none other than Project Save Our Surf’s 24-Hour Surf-a-Thon, with a brand new and exciting format that will feature pro surfers, celebrities and the general public as well.

There will be 16 teams with a maximum 22 competitors per team, beginning at noon June 19 and ending at noon June 20.

Within the 24 hours, special competitors will be drawn from a hat and allocated to the participating teams.

From 1 to 2 p.m. June 19, 16 celebrities from entertainment, music and the surf world will compete.

And from 10 to 11 a.m. June 20, 16 World Paddle Assn. competitors will compete during the SUP hour featuring stand-up paddleboarders.
