Share

Freebie of the Week: Need a little culture in your life, but don’t have two nickels to rub together? Head over to the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall at the Orange County Performing Arts Center before 8 p.m. Friday for a chance to sit in the Orchestra Level to watch a free open rehearsal of the Pacific Symphony’s Beethoven’s Ninth performances (yep, including the “Ode to Joy”) set for Saturday at the Verizon Amphitheater. Led by guest conductor Robert Moody, the Symphony will be joined by more than 100 singers from a dozen Orange County choruses. Those lucky enough to get in also will be able to watch a rehearsal of Samuel Barber’s “Adagio for Strings.” Tickets already have been distributed, but empty seats will be filled from a standby line about 10 to 15 minutes before the performance. For more information, visit ocpac.org.

Run to the hills — of fashion

We’re so very excited about Fashion’s Night Out from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday! Head over to Fashion Island to enjoy Orange County’s portion of the worldwide celebration, geared at restoring consumer confidence. Lo Bosworth will kick off the event, and the first 1,000 shoppers to stop by the concierge desk with a receipt from any participating retailer will receive a free Fashion Island tote bag (no minimum dollar amount required!). Freebies and specials at many stores include cocktails, tapas, fashion shows, live deejays and entertainment, and contests and various discounts.
