Huntington Surf & Sport is slashing prices the day after Christmas. The doors open Sunday at 8 a.m. at all four Huntington Beach locations. Almost everything in the store (excluding surfboards and wetsuits) are reduced 20% to 50% Sunday through Tuesday.

Ice skate by the beach


Ice skating by the beach in Surf City? The Strand, home to the Shorebreak Hotel, shopping, dining and entertainment on 5th Street in Huntington Beach unveils an outdoor ice-skating rink open through Jan. 5. Skate rentals cost $5 for children and $7 for adults — no time limit. The Strand is at 155 Fifth St., between Pacific Coast Highway and Walnut Avenue. For more information, visit

Bearing donations

The adorable Bloomies bear is back this Christmas season! A portion of the proceeds from the bear sales benefit the Child Mind Institute. The collectible Little Brown Bear by Gund is paired with the storybook “A Magical Night Before Christmas,” featuring a foreword by Jimmy Buffett.

Botti in a one-night event

Jazz trumpeter Chris Botti ( will perform a one-night-only concert at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 8 in Segerstrom Hall in Costa Mesa. The immensely talented jazz artist has worked with Sting, Michael Bublé, John Mayer, Andrea Bocelli, Joshua Bell, Steven Tyler and Paul Simon, and he was voted one of People magazine’s 50 Most Beautiful People a few years ago.
