Greer's OC: Laguna mansion to open for tours

Starting on April 24 and running through May 20, the Philharmonic Society of Orange County will present its 20th Philharmonic House of Design in Laguna Beach.

By touring a grand estate in Laguna, you'll directly affect the lives of children by helping to provide them with free music programs at schools, from first grade through high school.

The 11,000-square-foot home that will be showcased is a collaboration of more than 20 sought-after interior designers from Los Angeles and Orange County. They have transformed the property into a contemporary retreat with a touch of craftsmanship, featuring an infinity pool and terraces, and a helipad surrounded by a circular driveway. The home will also serve as a showroom for renowned artists of Laguna Beach to display and sell their works.

Touring the home costs $40. Proceeds will benefit the Philharmonic Society's Youth Music Education Programs. The 2012 Philharmonic House of Design can also be rented for corporate and private parties.

The House of Design has an on-site café and boutique.

There will also be a festive night at the house, from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday, featuring a first showing of the house, hors d'oeuvres, cocktails and entertainment. Tickets cost $150 per person.
