High School Roundup: CdM girls’ volleyball sweeps the Bishop’s in CIF SoCal Regional Division I first round

Molly Joyce had 11 kills to lead the No. 11-seeded Corona del Mar High girls’ volleyball team to a 25-18, 25-23, 25-21 win at No. 6 the Bishop’s of La Jolla on Tuesday in the first round of the CIF State Southern California Regional Division I playoffs.

Megan Fisk added three kills and two service aces for CdM (22-6).

The Sea Kings remain on the road to face No. 3 Carlsbad La Costa Canyon in the regional quarterfinals on Thursday.

Carlsbad La Costa Canyon 3, Huntington Beach 1: Xolani Hodel had 22 kills for the No. 14-seeded Oilers, but the host Mavericks won 25-23, 25-20, 22-25, 27-25 on Tuesday in the first round of the CIF State Southern California Regional Division I playoffs.

Sabrina Phinizy added 14 kills, and Lillian Perkins chipped in with nine kills for Huntington Beach (24-14).
