High School Roundup: Laguna Beach girls’ water polo improves to 4-0 with win over Riverside King

Emma Lineback scored five goals for the Laguna Beach High girls’ water polo team in a 22-9 nonleague home win over Riverside King on Monday.

Molly Renner scored three goals for Laguna Beach (4-0), the top-ranked team in the CIF Southern Section Division 1 and 2 poll. Emma Singer, Morgan Van Alphen, Ella Baumgarten, Imani Clemons and Skylar Kidd added two goals each against King, ranked No. 1 in Division 3.

The Breakers host Murrieta Valley, ranked No. 16 in Division 1 and 2, on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.

Villa Park 9, Costa Mesa 8: The Mustangs dropped to 2-2 after Monday’s nonleague road match.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

JSerra 1, Edison 0: The visiting Lions, ranked No. 1 in CIF Southern Section Division 1, scored a first-half goal in Monday’s nonleague match.

The Chargers (1-1-1), ranked No. 9 in Division 1, play at Corona Santiago on Tuesday at 5 p.m. in a pool-play match of the Aliso Cup.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Woodbridge 43, Fountain Valley 41: Kristen Ho had nine points for the Barons on Monday at the Artesia Tournament.
