College Roundup: UC Irvine men’s basketball tops Kent State

Redshirt sophomore forward Collin Welp finished with 18 points and seven rebounds, leading the UC Irvine men’s basketball team to a 74-68 victory over Kent State on Monday in the Don Haskins Sun Bowl Invitational in El Paso, Texas.

The Anteaters (7-5) will play host UTEP (7-1) in Tuesday’s showcase championship game at 6 p.m. The Minors defeated North Carolina A&T 72-54 on Monday.

UCI’s Brad Greene contributed 16 points and five rebounds, while Evan Leonard had 15 points.
