College Roundup: UC Irvine men’s basketball falls at UTEP

Eyassu Worku had a team-high 19 points to go with four rebounds and two assists, but the UC Irvine men’s basketball team lost at UTEP 67-61 on Tuesday night in the Don Haskins Sun Bowl Invitational championship game in El Paso, Texas.

Tommy Rutherford added eight points and five rebounds for the Anteaters (7-6). Brad Greene also had six points, nine rebounds and two blocked shots.

UTEP (8-1) was led by Bryson Williams, who led all scorers with 22 points.

Olivet Nazarene 73, Vanguard 55: Phillip Willis scored nine points for the Lions in Tuesday’s Vanguard Christmas Classic game at home.

Michael Magee and Isaiah Gentry each added eight points for Vanguard (7-6), which hosts Thompson Rivers of British Columbia on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
