High School Roundup: Laguna Beach girls’ water polo into Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions semifinals

Rachael Carver scored three goals as the Laguna Beach High girls’ water polo team beat Carlsbad 12-3 on Friday in a Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions quarterfinal match at Goleta Dos Pueblos High.

Molly Renner scored twice for the top-seeded Breakers (14-1). Morgan Van Alphen, Imani Clemons, Jessie Rose, Emma Lineback, Ava Houlahan, Skylar Kidd and Nicole Struss added one goal each.

Laguna Beach plays Foothill in a tournament semifinal Saturday at 10 a.m. at Dos Pueblos. Santa Barbara San Marcos plays Newport Harbor in the second semifinal at 11 a.m.

The final is scheduled for 4 p.m.

Foothill is the only team to beat the Breakers this season, 8-7, in a nonleague match Jan. 4.

Corona del Mar 9, Westlake Village Oaks Christian 0: The Sea Kings salvaged a split of their first two Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions matches at Goleta Dos Pueblos High on Friday.

Earlier Friday, CdM (5-7) lost 8-7 to Santa Margarita in the first round of the tournament.

The Sea Kings play Agoura in a ninth-place semifinal match Saturday at 11 a.m. at San Marcos High.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Laguna Beach 62, Corona del Mar 47: Nolan Naess had 16 points for the Breakers in Friday’s Sunset Conference crossover game.

Willie Rounaghi and Brooks Hogenauer each scored 14 points for Laguna Beach (13-6).

Efe Gucoglu led CdM (13-6) with 16 points.

Newport Harbor 68, Marina 56: Levi Darrow had 31 points and 10 rebounds for the Sailors in Friday’s Sunset Conference crossover game at Newport Harbor High.

Ryan Miller scored 11 points for Newport Harbor (17-4).

Ethan Barnella also scored 31 points for Marina (9-13).

Fountain Valley 58, Los Alamitos 56 (OT): Jeremiah Davis had 24 points for the Barons in Friday’s Sunset Conference crossover game on the road.

Aden Casarez added 12 points for Fountain Valley (10-6).

Edison 62, Huntington Beach 52: The Chargers improved to 12-9 after Friday’s Sunset Conference crossover game win at Edison High.

Huntington Beach fell to 5-14.

Estancia 71, Saddleback 39: The Eagles improved to 2-0 in the Orange Coast League after Friday’s home game.

Estancia is 17-3 overall.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Ocean View 50, Western 38: The host Seahawks improved to 7-13 overall and 1-1 in league following Friday night’s Golden West League game.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Estancia 4, Saddleback 1: Marcos Arreola recorded a hat-trick for the host Eagles in Friday’s Orange Coast League match.

Felix Solis also scored a goal for Estancia (2-10-3, 1-1).

Costa Mesa 2, Calvary Chapel 1: Marco Castrejon scored a pair of first-half goals for the visiting Mustangs on Friday in an Orange Coast League match.

Costa Mesa improved to 3-7-4 overall and 1-0-1 in league.

Ocean View 2, Western 1: Melvin Campos and Anthony Ruiz scored goals for the host Seahawks (5-8-3, 2-0) in a Golden West League match on Friday.

Los Amigos 13, La Quinta 0: Adrian Villicana scored three goals to lead the host Lobos on Friday in a Garden Grove League match.

Andy Millan, Francisco Lopez and Martin Sanchez each scored two goals for Los Amigos (4-2-3, 1-1). Jose Felipe, Edgar Cachu, Humberto Rincon and Brandon Alfaro had a goal apiece.

Huntington Beach 2, Edison 1: Reid Fisher scored the tying goal and Carson Dykes delivered the winning goal for the visiting Oilers in a Sunset Conference crossover match on Friday night.

Justin Fujimori and Josh Lucas each had an assist for Huntington Beach (5-6-2).

Edison (10-3-1) received a goal from Dylan Zankich.

Fountain Valley 2, Los Alamitos 2: Sebastian Rus and Connor Wright each scored a goal for the Barons (3-6-2) on Friday in a Sunset Conference crossover match on the road.

Newport Harbor 2, Marina 0: The host Sailors scored twice in the first half of Friday’s Sunset Conference crossover match.

Newport Harbor is now 8-2 overall, while Marina dropped to 6-5-3 on the season.

Corona del Mar 3, Laguna Beach 2: Chase Marion had a pair of goals to lead the host Sea Kings in Friday’s Sunset Conference crossover match.

Will Little also scored for CdM (7-3), and Aidan Holmes drew an assist on the game-winning goal in the second half.

Laguna Beach is now 5-6-1.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Pacifica Christian Orange County 4, Saddleback Valley Christian 0: Peyton Reike, Payton Soliday, Cassandra Cross and Maggie O’Callaghan all scored goals for the Tritons in Friday’s San Joaquin League match on the road.

Brooklyn Motske had two assists for Pacifica Christian (6-2, 1-1 in league).
