High School Roundup: Costa Mesa, Estancia girls’ volleyball teams open Orange Coast League with sweeps

Lorelei Hobbis had a team-high 13 kills as the Costa Mesa High School girls’ volleyball team beat Orange 25-13, 25-13, 25-15 in its Orange Coast League opener Tuesday at home.

Hobbis also had 10 digs and five service aces for Costa Mesa (10-3). Tori Villarreal had four aces and eight digs.

The Mustangs play at Santa Ana on Thursday.

Estancia 3, Saddleback 0: The Eagles earned a 25-6, 25-16, 25-17 sweep in their Orange Coast League opener and stayed undefeated Tuesday at home.

Estancia (10-0) hosts Calvary Chapel on Thursday.

BOYS’ WATER POLO

Estancia 11, Ocean View 8: Senior Dane Dodge and freshman Harrison North each scored three goals for the Eagles in Tuesday’s nonleague match at Estancia High.

Sophomore goalkeeper Max McNiff made eight saves for the Eagles (5-3).

Jack Messina led Ocean View (1-2) with a match-high four goals.

GIRLS’ TENNIS

Palos Verdes Peninsula 12, Corona del Mar 6: Sienna Brooks swept in singles for the Sea Kings in Tuesday’s nonleague road match.

Jane Paulsen and Cate Montgomery swept in doubles for CdM (4-2).

Estancia 14, Norwalk Glenn 4: The Eagles swept in doubles in Tuesday’s nonleague road match.

Estancia (3-1) hosts Godinez on Thursday.
