High School Roundup: Ocean View girls’ volleyball earns another Golden West League win

The Ocean View High School girls’ volleyball team defeated host Westminster 25-17, 25-18, 25-19 on Tuesday in a Golden West League match.

With the win, the Seahawks have their first winning streak of the season under head coach Daniel Lozada, having also earned a road victory against Godinez last Thursday in straight sets.

Ocean View (4-11, 2-1) plays host to Katella (11-5, 3-0) as league play continues Thursday.

Estancia 3, Orange 1: The visiting Eagles bounced back from their setback against Calvary Chapel with a 26-24, 25-11, 23-25, 25-17 victory over the Panthers on Tuesday in Orange Coast League play.

Estancia (11-1, 2-1) visits Costa Mesa on Thursday at 4:30 p.m., as the teams renew their rivalry in the Battle for the Bell.

Calvary Chapel 3, Costa Mesa 1: Lorelei Hobbis had eight kills, six digs and two blocks, but the Mustangs fell to the Eagles on Tuesday in an Orange Coast League match at home.

Islas Lucero had seven kills, six digs and two service aces for Costa Mesa (11-4, 2-1).

Huntington Beach 3, Laguna Beach 0: The Oilers won their 12th match in a row in sweeping the visiting Breakers 25-12, 25-23, 25-17 on Tuesday in Surf League play.

Huntington Beach (19-5, 2-0) travels to take on CdM on Thursday. Laguna Beach (12-12, 1-1) will be at Los Alamitos that day.

Los Alamitos 3, Corona del Mar 0: Reese Olson had six kills for the visiting Sea Kings, who dropped Tuesday’s Surf League match by a count of 25-14, 25-15, 25-13.

CdM (9-15, 0-2) has lost its last five matches.

Los Alamitos improved to 10-10 overall and 1-1 in league.

Edison 3, Marina 0: The Chargers earned a 25-16, 25-21, 25-19 road sweep on Tuesday in a Wave League match.

Edison (14-13, 2-0) will play host to Newport Harbor (14-5, 2-0) on Thursday, while Marina (11-10, 0-2) is scheduled to play at Fountain Valley (2-9, 0-2) in its next match.

Newport Harbor 3, Fountain Valley 0: The host Sailors earned a 25-13, 25-11, 25-14 win over the Barons on Tuesday in Wave League action.

The winner of Thursday’s match will take sole possession of first place in the league when Newport Harbor travels to take on Edison.

GIRLS’ TENNIS

Manhattan Beach Mira Costa 12, Corona del Mar 6: Jane Paulsen and Cate Montgomery won two doubles sets for the Sea Kings in Tuesday’s nonleague match at CdM.

Sienna Brooks won twice in singles for CdM (4-3), which plays at Fountain Valley in a Sunset Conference crossover match on Thursday.

Pacifica Christian Orange County 9, Rosary 9 (Pacifica Christian wins 82-71 on games): Bree Clarke and Kiana Giunta swept in singles for the Tritons in Tuesday’s nonleague home match.

Pacifica Christian (7-1) plays at Sage Hill on Friday.

Orange 11, Estancia 7: The Eagles were short two players in Tuesday’s Orange Coast League opener on the road.

Estancia (4-2) plays at rival Costa Mesa on Thursday.
