High School Roundup: Sage Hill girls’ basketball edges Long Beach Poly

Isabel Gomez had 14 points and nine rebounds, as the Sage Hill School girls’ basketball team earned a 49-46 win over Long Beach Poly on Monday in the SoCal Holiday Prep Classic in San Diego.

Emily Eadie added 10 points and 12 rebounds for Sage Hill (11-3). Zoie Lamkin scored eight points to go with six rebounds and three assists.

Kat Righeimer had 11 points and five rebounds, and Anabelle Spotts had four points and seven rebounds in her season debut for the Lightning.

Estancia 44, Katella 24: Mackenzie Sanchez had eight points and 11 rebounds for the Eagles in their opening game of the Hawk Holiday Classic at Ocean View High School on Monday.

Alexis Orellana scored 11 points, and Liz Sanchez added 10 points for Estancia (6-4).

Ocean View 51, Loara 25: Marisabel Alcaraz had 14 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Seahawks on Monday in the Hawk Holiday Classic at Ocean View High School.

Nayleen Gonzalez added 15 points and six rebounds for Ocean View (10-3).

Ocean View 36, Westminster La Quinta 30: The Seahawks swept their slate of games Monday in their host tournament.

Corona del Mar 53, South Gate Legacy 23: The Sea Kings extended their first winning streak of the season to three games, moving their record to 5-7 overall on Monday at the North Torrance Tournament.

CdM is competing in the silver division.

Hesperia Oak Hills 59, Newport Harbor 43: Emma Fults had eight points, 11 rebounds and two blocked shots for the Sailors on Monday in the Ayala Tournament.

Emma Coatsworth had nine points, nine rebounds and three assists for Newport Harbor (11-3), which had won seven in a row. Chase Dionio contributed nine points, three blocks and three assists, while Kate Bland also had eight points and five rebounds.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Edison 63, Fontana Summit 54: Dylan Hugues had a team-high 19 points for the Chargers on Monday in the Palm Desert Tournament.

Edison is 11-3 overall.

Laguna Beach 67, Beckman 54: Jackson Sirianni scored 28 points to lead the Breakers in their Tustin Holiday Classic opener on Monday.

Kai Gillies added 21 points for Laguna Beach (8-5).

Newport Harbor 58, Segerstrom 24: Jake Read scored 16 points for the Sailors in their Century Elks Holiday Classic opener Monday at Century High School.

Newport Harbor improved to 10-5 this season.

Corona del Mar 55, San Pedro 45: George Bruening led the Sea Kings with 16 points in their North Torrance Tournament game Monday night.

Hudson Bond added 15 points for CdM (14-1).

Hacienda Heights Los Altos 47, Fountain Valley 44: Jeremiah Whitmore scored 16 points for the Barons in Monday’s the Classic at Damien gold division first-round game.

Carter Bryant scored 10 points for Fountain Valley (3-5).

Ontario Colony 62, Pacifica Christian Orange County 46: The Tritons had a two-game winning streak snapped, falling to 5-7 overall, following Monday’s game in the Classic at Damien.

Colony remains undefeated at 12-0 this season.

Temecula Chaparral 63, Marina 53: The Vikings dropped their Tustin Holiday Classic opener Monday.

Marina is now 10-4.

Buena Park 75, Estancia 40: The Eagles fell to 10-5 after losing their first game of the Coast Holiday Classic on Monday at Estancia High School.

Cerritos Valley Christian 59, Costa Mesa 30: The Mustangs dropped to 4-11 overall following Monday’s game in the Orange Holiday Classic.

Katella 70, Los Amigos 51: The Lobos lost in their opening game of the Coast Holiday Classic on Monday at Estancia High School.

Los Amigos is now 2-8 overall.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Edison 3, Chino Hills Ayala 0: Grace Ingalls scored twice for the Chargers in their second game of the Excalibur Tournament of Champions on Monday at Tustin High.

Harlee Thomas also scored a goal for Edison (7-4-1), which lost 3-2 to host Foothill in its first match of the tournament earlier Monday.

Huntington Beach 0, Mater Dei 0 (Huntington Beach wins 5-4 on PKs): The Oilers advanced in the first round of the Excalibur Tournament of Champions on Monday at Tustin High.
