Los Amigos’ Joshua Nava earns Garden Grove League MVP

Los Amigos High senior utility player Joshua Nava earned Garden Grove League MVP honors in boys’ water polo after helping the Lobos win the league title.

Nava is joined by Los Amigos seniors Daniel Juarez, Armando Rodriguez and Aldo Ibarra as first-team selections.

Nava, a repeat first-team selection, scored a team-high 128 goals this season for Los Amigos (18-11, 4-0 in league). Los Amigos advanced to the quarterfinals of the CIF Southern Section Division 6 playoffs before losing 12-10 to Culver City.

Rodriguez, a center and another repeat first-team selection, was second on Los Amigos with 56 goals, while Juarez, also a center, had 36 goals. Ibarra, an attacker, scored 33.

Los Amigos seniors Jeremiah Boyer and William Molina each earned second-team nods.

Landon Ngo of La Quinta was named league Goalie of the Year, while Rancho Alamitos’ Carlos David Cazares and Spencer Whitman earned Offensive and Defensive MVP awards, respectively.
