COSTA MESA — Pat Wright won at No. 2 singles to lead the way for the Pirates in the Orange Empire Conference match Tuesday.

Jesse Chen (No. 3), Rex Miller (No. 4), Gregory Villacana (No. 5) and Aaron Lester (No. 6) also won in singles for OCC (10-5, 7-1 in conference).

Doubleheader

COSTA MESA — Vanguard rallied to win with four runs in the bottom of the seventh for a 4-3 win in the first game against Hope International Tuesday.

The Lions nearly came back in the nightcap, scoring three runs in the bottom of the seventh, but left with a 6-5 loss to split the Golden State Conference doubleheader.

Ariana Atwater and Brittany Colenzo had two runs batted in each for Vanguard (20-20, 1-9 in conference) in the first game.

Stephanie Leisenring was one for two with three RBIs and two runs scored for the Lions in the nightcap.

Hope International is 14-21, 2-8.

BASEBALL

Golden West 4, Orange Coast 1

COSTA MESA — The Pirates outhit their rivals, 12-7, but left 12 runners on base in the Orange Empire Conference game Tuesday.

Zach Chavez, Chris Carlson, Matt Moynihan, Trent Woodward and Colton Hammill had two hits each for OCC (24-5, 10-4 in conference).

Golden West is 12-15, 4-10.

WOMEN’S TENNIS

Irvine Valley 5, Orange Coast 4

IRVINE — Lianne Wheelock (No. 2), Claire Crossman (No. 5) and Remi Sutton (No. 6) won in singles for the Pirates in the Orange Empire Conference match Tuesday.

OCC dropped to 3-10, 1-8 in conference.
