SANTA ANA — Junior Marcus Hayes went three for four with two runs batted in for the Mustangs in the Orange Coast League game Wednesday.

Junior Logan Benter was two for three with two RBIs, as part of Costa Mesa’s 10-hit attack. Senior P.J. Maloney pitched a complete game with five strikeouts, and allowed eight hits for the Mustangs (8-9, 3-4 in league.

Costa Mesa led the whole game, scoring three runs in the third inning and five in the sixth.

Irvine 5, Corona del Mar 2

IRVINE — Michael Salam pitched two scoreless innings and was one for one for the Sea Kings in the Pacific Coast League game Wednesday.

CdM had four hits and scored both runs in the seventh inning. Will Morrow doubled and Clark Cashion drove in a run for the Sea Kings, who struck out three times and collected 12 fly-ball outs.

BOYS’ LACROSSE

Foothill 12, Corona del Mar 11

SANTA ANA — Juniors Michael Keasey (two assists) and Jack Ortlieb (one assist) scored three goals each for the Sea Kings, who nearly pulled off the upset Wednesday.

The Sea Kings (11-2) are ranked No. 36 in the state by laxpower.com, while Foothill is ranked No. 8. Junior Hunter Molnar added two goals and sophomore Casey Mix had three assists and one goal. Goalie Michael Ortlieb led the defense with 16 saves. Donald Dalton, who had one goal and one assist, as well as John Prickett and Dylan Salisbury also stood out on defense.
