CAPISTRANO VALLEY — Jared Namba won two events and contributed to a relay victory to help Corona del Mar beat Capistrano Valley, 90-80, Tuesday.

The Sea Kings lost to Loyola, 104-66. Loyola beat Capo Valley, 105-65.

Namba won the 100-yard butterfly in 51.06 seconds, a CIF-automatic time, and the 100 backstroke in 51.72, also a CIF-automatic time.

John Kim won the 200 individual medley in 1:54.95, a CIF-automatic time. Namba, Garrett Larson, Kim and Ari Marks were on the victorious 200 medley relay that touched in a CIF-qualifying 1:36.40.

SOFTBALL

Estancia 22, Saddleback 0

COSTA MESA — Maliah Murtha and Rachelle Reynolds both hit a home run in the Eagles’ 12-run first inning of the Orange Coast League game that went five innings due to the mercy rule Tuesday.

Pitchers Claire Woodside and Kelly Hinkle combined for a two-hitter for Estancia (4-15, 1-2 in league). Reynolds went four for five with three runs batted in, while Murtha finished with four RBIs. Hinkle was three for three with an RBI and Jessica Salamanca was two for five with two RBIs.

The Eagles play at Calvary Chapel Thursday.

BOYS’ GOLF

Corona del Mar 184, Mission Viejo 193

NEWPORT BEACH — CdM’s Mike Moorhead shot one-under-par 34 to share medalist honors with Mission Viejo’s Raymond Gonzalez in the nonleague match at Newport Beach Country Club Tuesday.

Brian Mull shot 35, Chase Wheatley carded a 37 and Karick Brown finished with 38, while John Davenport and Ryan Grable both shot 40 for CdM (16-1).

The Sea Kings play host to Villa Park Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at NBCC. Villa Park dealt CdM its only this season earlier this year.

BASEBALL

Costa Mesa 6, Saddleback 3

SANTA ANA — Tyler Sheffner went three for four with a triple and a run batted in for the Mustangs in the Orange Coast League game Tuesday.

Sheffner also pitched a complete-game, five-hitter with eight strikeouts and three walks. Logan Benter sent one for three with three RBIs for Costa Mesa (9-9, 4-4 in league), which had nine hits.

Palm Desert 9, Corona del Mar 8

CORONA DEL MAR — Clark Cashion went two for three for the Sea Kings in the nonleague game Tuesday.

Ryan Garvey, the son of former pro Steve Garvey, hit a solo home run in the sixth inning to give Palm Desert the 9-8 lead. Steve Garvey was in attendance.

Aaron White went two for four with two runs batted in, Will Morrow went two for four, Eric Morris was one for two with an RBI and a double and Andrew Machoskie had a double and two RBIs for CdM (10-7).

The Sea Kings play host to Inglewood Friday at 3:15 p.m.

Godinez 2, Estancia 1

COST MESA — Andres Hernandez pitched a complete-game, three-hitter, striking out two and walking one for the Eagles in the Orange Coast League game Tuesday.

Godinez scored two in the fourth, while Estancia (8-10, 2-4 in league) scored in the second inning. Junior catcher Brodie Pearce reached on an error and later scored on a passed ball. The Eagles finished with four hits.

Estancia plays at Godinez Friday at 3:15 p.m.

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO — Jack Heffron went two for three for the Lightning in the Academy League game Tuesday.

Sage Hill (4-8, 4-4 in league) finished with seven hits.

GIRLS’ LACROSSE

Tesoro 17, Corona del Mar 16

MISSION VIEJO — Junior Gabby Smith recorded six goals in the Sea Kings’ nonleague game Monday.

Molly Rovzar and Torrey Attyah each finished with three goals for CdM (8-3).

Goalie Sarah Hostetler made 10 saves.

Sage Hill 12, Oxford Academy 6

NEWPORT BEACH — Junior Alex Manolakas swept at No. 2 singles for the Lightning in the Academy League match Tuesday.

Sean Batten and Ryan Lee swept at No. 2 doubles, while Kevin Marshack and Garrett Rapport swept at No. 3 doubles for Sage Hill (12-5, 6-0 in league), ranked No. 2 in the CIF Southern Section Division III coaches’ poll.

The Lightning, who have won eight straight also won, 11-7, at Tesoro Monday. Manolakas and Marshack swept at No. 1 doubles.

COSTA MESA — John Rivera and Francisco Alvarez swept at No. 1 doubles for the Eagles in the Orange Coast League match Tuesday.

Matt Thomas and Dave Cornelius swept at No. 2 doubles for Estancia (5-10, 3-3 in league).

NEWPORT BEACH — Craig McKennon and Greg Brostek swept at No. 1 doubles for the Sailors in the Sunset League game Tuesday.

Jamie Davis and Macolm Faigen won a set at No. 3 doubles for Newport Harbor (5-9, 2-5 in league).

BOYS’ LACROSSE

Corona del Mar’s game against St. Margaret’s, scheduled for Tuesday at 7 p.m., was postponed because of “unforeseen issues with the lights at Davidson Field,” at Newport Harbor, Sea Kings’ Coach G.W. Mix said in an email.

CdM will play at St. Margaret’s April 26 at 7 p.m.
