UCI adds attackers

Victoria Dennis, a 6-foot-4 outside hitter, and 6-2 outside hitter Sydney Wright have signed national letters of intent to play collegiately at UC Irvine.

Dennis, a senior at Bonita High, and Wright, a senior at Chaminade High, are Prepvolleyball.com’s list of senior aces and were on the American Volleyball Coaches’ Assn. preseason All-American watch lists.

“We are very excited about the signing of Victoria and Sydney,” said Ben Bodipo-Memba, a UCI assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. “They will both play a huge role in the future of this program.”

The two should help improve a stable of attackers that were hitting a combined .152 with one regular-season match remaining in 2011.
