VU men fall to Westmont

COSTA MESA — Senior guard Christopher Raybon led the Lions with 25 points in the Golden State Athletic Conference game Tuesday.

Raybon made eight of 12 field-goal attempts, including three of six from three-point range. He was six of six from the foul line.

Cameron Nettles had 16 points and a team-best six rebounds and four steals for Vanguard (9-5, 1-2 in conference).

Vanguard lost the rebounding battle, 44-29.

Westmont is 10-1, 2-1. Christopher Miller scored 24 points to lead Westmont.

Vanguard outscored Westmont, 49-40, in the second half, and got within, 72-70, with 45 seconds left, but the Warriors held on.

The Lions return to action Saturday at home against Azusa Pacific at 7:30 p.m.
