High School Roundup: Estancia handles Calvary Chapel


Estancia 54, Calvary Chapel 27

COSTA MESA — Senior center Rashad Davis had 20 points and 13 rebounds for the Eagles in the Orange Coast League game Friday night at Estancia.

Junior guard Chad Fackler added six points and 10 rebounds for Estancia (12-9, 3-1 in league). Senior forward Lucas Pereira had nine points and eight rebounds, and sophomore guard Martin Harry added seven points.

Estancia moves into a second place tie in league with Costa Mesa, and the rivals play in the first Battle for the Bell game Wednesday night at Costa Mesa.


Corona del Mar 52, Northwood 45

CORONA DEL MAR — Senior guard Jake McClosky and junior guard Blake Grable each had 12 points for the Sea Kings in the Pacific Coast League game Friday night at CdM.

Andrew McCormack and Drew Olson each added eight points for CdM (11-9, 3-2 in league). The Sea Kings play at Irvine on Thursday.


Sage Hill 54, Oxford Academy 43

NEWPORT COAST — Jack Williamson scored 14 points to lead the Lightning in the Orange Coast League game Friday.

Creagan Lydon had 10 points for Sage Hill (5-16, 1-5 in league).


Fountain Valley 68, Newport Harbor 51

FOUNTAIN VALLEY — Zach Wade and Nic Sargeant scored 13 points each for the Sailors (0-5 in league) in the Sunset League game.



Estancia 9, Calvary Chapel 0

COSTA MESA — Wesley Pena had a hat trick for Estancia in the Orange Coast League game Friday at Jim Scott Stadium.

Carlos Moreno scored two goals, while Uri Garcia, Alexis Plata, Alex Esquivel and Carlos Barrios added one goal each for Estancia (7-4-3, 1-1-2 in league).


Sage Hill 3, Oxford Academy 1

NEWPORT COAST — Senior Jack Percival had two assists to help the Lightning take sole possession of second place in the Academy League Friday.

Senior Cole Kirby, freshman Gordon Strelow and senior Ahmed Eltamami scored a goal each for Sage Hill (6-4-0, 5-1-0 in league). Freshman Nicolai Sadeghi had an assist. Strelow and sophomore Will Burns stood out on defense.



Sage Hill 2, Oxford Academy 1

CYPRESS — Lightning sophomore forward Meg Crade scored the game-winner in the final five minutes, lifting Sage in the Academy League game Friday at Oxford Academy.

Coach Catie Chase said Crade's goal came in a one-on-one situation. Senior Maddie Culberson also scored for the Lightning (8-3-3, 3-1-1 in league), who won their third straight league game.

Senior keeper Alexa Thomas made four saves.



Sage Hill 55, Oxford Academy 20

NEWPORT COAST — Ava Soleimany had 17 points, five rebounds and three assists for the Lightning in the Academy League game Friday.

Zoe Kreitenberg had 12 points, three rebounds, seven steals and two blocked shots, while Claire Gould added five points, 13 rebounds, three assists and two steals for Sage Hill (4-13, 2-5 in league), which plays host to Corona del Mar Monday at 7:30 p.m.


Fountain Valley 49, Newport Harbor 33

NEWPORT BEACH — Taylor Bower scored 11 points to lead the Sailors in the Sunset League game Thursday.

Kasey Thompson had four points and five rebounds, and Jennifer Lopez had three points and five steals for Newport Harbor (7-14, 0-5 in league).
