SANTA ANA — Marcus Hayes scored 10 points to help lead the Mustangs to the victory in the third-place playoff of the Orange Coast League Friday night at Calvary Chapel.

Nick Dawson had nine points, five reounds and three assists. He scored eight straight points in the middle of third quarter that helped the Mustangs blow the game open, Costa Mesa Coach Bryan Rice said.

The Mustangs improved to 18-9. The 18 wins ties the school record for most wins in a season. The third-place finish guaranteed Mesa a spot in the CIF playoffs.

Newport Harbor 17, Riverside Poly 7

RIVERSIDE — Junior Carly Christian had four goals for the Sailors in their regular-season finale Friday at Sippy Woodhead Pool.

Maddy McLaren and Avery Peterson scored three goals each, while Paisley Muller, Annie Kinney and Elissia Schilling each scored twice. Presley Pender also scored.

Cleo Harrington made eight saves for Newport Harbor (23-4), ranked No. 2 in CIF Southern Section Division I, and Lindsey Richardson had one save.

The Sailors await the release of the Division I playoff brackets on Sunday at 11 a.m.

COSTA MESA — Danielle Ridge had five goals for the Eagles in their nonleague season finale Friday at Estancia High.

Estancia finishes its season 12-13.
