BRENTWOOD — The Sea Kings calmed a rowdy crowd with a victory in the second round of the CIF Southern Section playoffs Friday.

The Sea Kings led, 9-3, after two rounds and then Alex Murray and Henry Gordon clinched the victory with a 6-0 win early in the third round. Murray and Gordon won their other two doubles sets, 6-0, 6-1.

In singles, Chaz Downing, Alec Adamson and Carson Williams all won two out of three sets. Each player lost to Brentwood’s No. 1 TJ Pura, 6-2.

Corona del Mar (19-3) will play host to Calabasas in the quarterfinals Tuesday at 3 p.m.

Calabasas, the Marmonte champion, won at home, beating Peninsula, 13-5.

BASEBALL

Sage Hill 13, Brethren Christian 0

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Parker Reposa struck out 11 and gave up just four hits in his complete-game shutout in the Lightning’s Academy League finale Thursday.

A two-run double by Michael Yorita and an error in the first inning and an RBI double by Brandon Zelner and an error during the second inning supplied the early offense for Sage Hill .

Zelner had a busy day at the plate, collecting three extra-base hits.

Sage Hill ‘s Yorita, Adam Ellingson, Zelner and Brett Dunlavey combined for eight hits and six RBIs.

Sage Hill built upon its lead with six runs in the fourth. A error scored Jack Bick and Ellingson for the inning’s first run. That was followed up by Dunlavey’s single, bringing home Yorita.

Sage ends league play 9-6 tied for third and hopes for an at-large CIF bid. Pairing will be released Monday.
