Estancia (10-3-11) fired off at least nine shots in the final 15 minutes, but couldn’t find the back of the net, Eagles Coach Jessica Perry.

Seniors Marlene Calderon and Shantel Romero as well as sophomore twins Sarah Leahy and Caitlin Leahy (goalkeeper), and freshman Brandi White led the Estancia defense, Perry said.

“They held a high scoring team to just one goal,” Perry said. “The other coach was impressed with how great our goalie saved. She had the best game of the year today.

“We only lost three games this year. We were undefeated league champs. I’m super proud of these girls. We went from not knowing if we would make the playoffs to winning [the Orange Coast League] and beating a very good Beverly Hills team in the playoffs. I’m sad that the season is over but there’s a feeling of accomplishment. I’m at peace with the way it all went down. We started three freshman and four sophomores. The future is bright for Estancia girls’ soccer.”

La Mirada (15-2-4) is the Suburban League champion.
