Youth Scene: Laguna girls move to 4-0

Share

The Laguna Beach Girls Division 2 team stayed undefeated in the first few weeks of the 2013-14 National Junior Basketball season by taking a 28-8 victory Saturday from Capo Dana.

Defense was the key as the Laguna girls mixed in some man-to-man coverage and a zone defense to confuse Capo Dana. Offensively, a balanced Laguna scoring attack saw Jamie Mackay, Izzy Meekma and Piper Naess each score six points. Ella Dartez chipped in five points, Avi Brice had four points, Grace Gilles two points, and Amelie Sadler added one point.

The win put Laguna, which resumes play Jan. 4, at 4-0.
