Around Town: New Year’s festival will bring 2 days of music to O.C. fairgrounds

Resolution NYE — a two-day music festival designed to ring in the new year — opens Saturday at the OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa.

Along with music from performers such as Dirty Heads, Seven Lions and Young the Giant, the event will feature vendors, food trucks, full-service bars and more.

The festival is open to guests 21 and older and will run from 5 p.m. to midnight Saturday and 8 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Sunday. One-day general admission tickets start at $50, with various VIP packages available.

The event is a collaboration of Social Management Group, Weedmaps and KROQ/106.7 FM.

Laguna’s Jordan Villwock to lead county emergency organization

Jordan Villwock, Laguna Beach’s emergency-operations coordinator, has been selected to lead Orange County’s Emergency Management Division as its chairman in 2018.

Villwock’s peers selected him for the post. The organization consists of more than 100 agencies, including the county, cities, school districts and special districts. Its mission is to promote, facilitate and support countywide disaster preparation and response efforts.
