Surfers find the Halloween spirit in Newport

A wetsuit is practical, but it’s not very festive. Around Halloween, though, surfers can mix it up.

Newport Beach surfers continued a holiday tradition Saturday morning by catching waves in costume at Blackie’s beach.

Previous Halloween gatherings at the stretch of beach by Newport Pier have featured Minions and Smurfs, Batman and Robin and the usual witches and ghouls of all ages.
