Runners, walkers, pooches and even a few superheroes toed the starting line at the Fountain Valley Recreation Center & Sports Park on Saturday for the FV Fit Body Boot Camp 5K Fun Run/Walk.

The event — sponsored by the city of Fountain Valley and the Fountain Valley Community Foundation — included a kids’ 1-mile race in addition to the main 3.1-mile course.

Some participants donned superhero outfits to compete in a costume contest — or just to add a bit of flair to the race.

Runners’ and walkers’ registration fees went to the participating nonprofit of their choice.
