Political Landscape: 6 Democratic candidates expected at congressional debate Wednesday in Costa Mesa

Share

Six Democratic candidates vying to represent California’s 48th Congressional District will discuss women’s issues during a debate Wednesday at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa.

The event will run from 7 to 9:30 p.m. in the Robert B. Moore Theatre at OCC, 2701 Fairview Road. It is presented by Women for American Values and Ethics in partnership with Indivisible OC 48, PPGeneration Action at OCC and the Community Action Fund of Planned Parenthood Orange & San Bernardino Counties.

The participating candidates are Hans Keirstead, Michael Kotick, Laura Oatman, Rachel Payne, Harley Rouda and Omar Siddiqui, according to organizers. They — along with several other candidates — are seeking to unseat longtime Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-Costa Mesa) in the November election.

Organizers say Wednesday’s event is the first in a series of four debates. Future events will center on climate change and the environment, immigration and foreign affairs, and civil rights and healthcare.
