CdM girls’ tennis beats Arroyo Grande to advance to CIF quarterfinals

Danielle Willson and Annika Bassey swept three singles sets as the Corona del Mar High girls’ tennis team beat visiting Arroyo Grande 16-2 on Thursday in the second round of the CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoffs.

The match was moved up a day per a request from Arroyo Grande.

Kristina Evloeva won twice in singles for top-seeded CdM (20-0) before she was subbed out, and Ashley Thomas won a tiebreaker set.

Roxy MacKenzie swept in doubles for CdM with partners Bella McKinney and Reece Kenerson.

The Sea Kings will play the winner between San Clemente and San Marino in a Division 1 quarterfinal match on Monday.
