CdM girls’ tennis advances to CIF SoCal Regional title match

The Corona del Mar High girls’ tennis team blanked Palos Verdes Pensinula 7-0 on Friday in a CIF USTA Southern California Regionals semifinal at The Claremont Club.

CdM will play Arcadia in the Southern California Regional title match on Saturday at 1:30 p.m., also at The Claremont Club.

The Sea Kings swept in both singles and doubles against Peninsula. Kristina Evloeva defeated Kimmi Hance 6-4, 0-6, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, while Annika Bassey beat Peninsula’s Ryan Peus 6-3, 7-6 at No. 2 singles. Roxy MacKenzie earned a 6-2, 6-7, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles, while Paulina Loredo beat Laudan Hosseini 6-3, 6-2 at No. 4 singles.

CdM also swept three doubles sets. Danielle Willson and Shaya Northrup beat Serena Ko and Lindsay Thomas 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles, while Lauren Friedman and Brooke Kenerson earned a 6-0, 6-3 win over Koko Makrygiannis and Kina Tanagawa at No. 2 doubles. CdM’s Bella McKinney and Emily Freyman earned a 6-1, 6-1 win over Kayla Brown and Dila Karaalp at No. 3 doubles.

CdM also beat Clovis North 7-0 in the first round of regionals earlier Friday.
