CdM girls’ tennis earns big 15-3 win over rival University

Danielle Willson and Annika Bassey swept in singles as the Corona del Mar High girls’ tennis team beat rival University, 15-3, in a key Pacific Coast League match Thursday at CdM.

With the win, Corona del Mar (14-0, 5-0 in league) moves into outright first place in league.

Shaya Northrup and Paulina Loredo swept at No. 1 doubles for CdM, with Kristina Evloeva and Bella McKinney winning twice at No. 2 doubles. Roxy MacKenzie also won twice in singles.

CdM, ranked No. 1 in CIF Southern Section Division 1, led 4-2 after the first round against No. 5 University. The Sea Kings then swept the second round to clinch the match.

CdM plays at Beckman on Friday.
