Ocean View girls’ basketball has four named to Golden West League first team

Ocean View High’s Hosanna Walker, Helen Reynolds, Erica Almiranez and Emi Yamasaki all received first-team All-Golden West League recognition for helping the girls’ basketball team finish third.

Walker, a freshman guard, led the team in scoring (18.2 points) and steals (3.0) per game. She also averaged 8.4 rebounds per game in the league.

Reynolds, the team’s junior center, led the Seahawks in rebounding at 9.5 per contest. She also put up 15.6 points and 2.5 blocks per game in league play.

Almiranez, a senior shooting guard, averaged 12.2 points per game in the league and she made 26 three-pointers. She contributed on the defensive end with 5.5 rebounds per game.

Yamasaki got recognized for her all-around game. The senior guard affected the game with her unselfishness, producing 4.2 assists, 2.7 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game during league.

The Seahawks went 18-9 overall and 7-3 in league. Ocean View lost 57-52 to San Clemente in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 3AA playoffs.

Westminster senior guard Jacklynn Tran was named the league MVP.
