Share

Where/When: 7 p.m. Friday at Laguna Beach High.

Key Panthers: Sr. QB Jason Wilkinson (13 of 23 passing for 368 yards and six TDs; six carries for 56 yards); Sr. WR/CB Syrus Collins (11 carries for 113 yards and one TD; eight catches for 203 yards and three TDs); Sr. WR/RB/CB Jordan Schmidt (four catches for 175 yards and two TDs; two tackles, and one INT).

Key Breakers: (Stats exclude Big Bear game) Sr. QB Curtis Harrison (31 of 48 passing for 603 yards, nine TDs, and one INT; 15 carries for 38 yards and one TD); Sr. WR/SS Adam Armstrong (12 catches for 224 yards and two TDs); Jr. WR/FS Sean Nolan (12 catches for 213 yards and four TDs; one INT)

Breakdown: This is one of the more intriguing matchups of Week 3, as it pits last year’s Division 13 semifinalist Breakers (1-2) against the current top team in the division … Orange (2-0) ran the ball well last year behind a huge offensive line … The recipe for success has changed a bit for the Panthers. While teams still have to respect the run, the Panthers are making teams pay for crowding the line of scrimmage. Nearly half (six of 13%) of Jason Wilkinson’s completions have gone for touchdowns … Laguna Beach has won four straight at home dating back to last season … The Breakers fell to the Panthers 48-17 last year when the teams played at El Modena High’s Fred Kelly Stadium.
