- This week, after collecting donations in Burbank, Glendale, La Crescenta and throughout the Los Angeles area, volunteers with Operation Christmas Child packed up a new batch of shoe boxes to send to deserving children in more than 150 countries.
The signs outside promised “Everything must go” and counted down the days to the Burbank store’s last, which was Wednesday — its doors closed as a Haggen store at 6 p.m. When it opens again, it could be a Smart & Final Extra.
A 36-year-old La Crescenta woman was killed in Napa Monday night after she was struck by a box truck on State Route 221, officials said.
