Bowlful of help at Mozambique

The fifth annual World Hunger Bowl is coming to Laguna Beach on Wednesday.

The fundraiser will offer a soup tasting, live music and a silent auction, with all proceeds going to Collaborative Courts Foundation Homeless Outreach Program and the homeless community of Laguna Beach.

“There’s a beautiful symbiotic relationship between the contributing artist, the patron who purchases the bowl and the person in need that benefits from the interaction,” event Chairwoman Faye Chapman said in a news release.

The bowls up for auction have not only been made by local students and artists, but also by Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys and marine life artist Wyland, according to the release.

Tickets are on sale for $45 and includes five soup tastings, dessert and a bowl made by local schoolchildren. Restaurants contributing the soup will include K’ya, Sundried Tomato, Sapphire, Mozambique Steakhouse and Remark’s.

The World Hunger Bowl is from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Mozambique. Tickets can be bought at worldhungerbowl.org.
