Biden, en su discurso de investidura: ‘La democracia ha prevalecido’
El Presidente de los Estados Unidos Joe Biden pronuncia su discurso inaugural en el Frente Oeste del Capitolio de los Estados Unidos el 20 de enero de 2021 en Washington, DC. Durante la ceremonia de inauguración de hoy Joe Biden se convierte en el 46º presidente de los Estados Unidos.
El presidente de Estados Unidos, Joe Biden, dijo este miércoles en su discurso de investidura que “la democracia ha prevalecido” tras el mandato de su predecesor, Donald Trump, y definió la jornada como “un día de historia y de esperanza”.
“Celebramos el triunfo de una causa, la causa de la democracia. Es frágil, preciosa. La democracia ha prevalecido”, aseveró Biden en su discurso tras haber jurado como el presidente número 46 en la historia de EE.UU.
“Es un día histórico y de esperanza, de renovación y resolución”, agregó.
Biden se refirió a los turbulentos días que ha vivido el país tras el asalto violento al Capitolio el pasado 6 de enero por una turba de seguidores del ya expresidente Trump.

En este sentido, aseguró que aún queda mucho para “curar” las heridas del país y llamó a confrontar el “extremismo político, el supremacismo blanco y el terrorismo doméstico”, que aseguró que derrotará.
Sobre el asalto al Capitolio por parte de seguidores de Trump el 6 de enero, prometió que no volverá a pasar “ni hoy ni mañana”.

Pidió, asimismo, seguir el “camino de la unidad” para superar las múltiples crisis que enfrenta el país, porque sin ella “solo hay amargura y furia”. Llamó a los estadounidenses a superar divisiones, declarando que “sin unidad, no hay paz.”
El presidente pidió este miércoles al país que rechace “la cultura en al que los hechos mismos son manipulados, e incluso fabricados” y pidió un inicio “fresco”, en el que la política no tiene que ser un “fuego furioso”.
Joe Biden se convirtió este miércoles en el presidente número 46 de la historia de Estados Unidos, al jurar el cargo en la ceremonia oficial de investidura ante las escalinatas del Capitolio y en medio de grandes medidas de seguridad.
A las 11.50 am ET, Biden comenzó el juramento con el que se compromete a “preservar, proteger y defender la Constitución de Estados Unidos”.

La investidura se celebra con un público reducido debido a los protocolos para evitar los contagios por covid-19 y un dispositivo de seguridad sin precedentes en la historia del país, con hasta 25.000 militares desplegados en Washington.
Rompiendo con la tradición, Trump no asistió al acto de investidura de su sucesor y puso rumbo a su mansión privada en Palm Beach (Florida), estado donde llegó poco antes del inicio de la ceremonia.
El vicepresidente saliente, Mike Pence, sí asistió al acto, al que también acudieron la mayoría de los legisladores estadounidenses y anteriores mandatarios, como George W. Bush (2001-2009) y Bill Clinton (1993-2001), junto a sus respectivas esposas, Laura Bush y Hillary Clinton.
