Cove Gallery welcomes new artist

Sumie painter Kate McCavitt has joined the Cove Gallery, at 1492 S. Coast Hwy.

The Asian-brush artist's work can be characterized as "East meets West" contemporary abstract art bordering on fantasy, combining ancient icons, color, and the subtleties of Asian tradition in a modern fusion.

A New York native, McCavitt currently lives in Oceanside. Her work is exhibited at three other California galleries, as well as in Hawaii, South Carolina, Florida, New Jersey and Michigan.

She is also one of very few independent artists represented by a Dubai gallery.

As the Gallery welcomes McCavitt, it also bids farewell to long-time exhibitor Jeanne Baer after two decades as an active member. Her ties to Cove will be maintained through their newly chartered Emeritus Program, which will allow her to occasionally exhibit her work.

Baer has also participated at the Art-A-Fair and is a member of Laguna Plein Air Painters Assn. She plans to study and travel.
