Belly dancing classes offered

Jheri St. James will teach an eight-week Gypsy Wise Woman belly dancing class from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursdays beginning in March at the Susi Q Senior Center, 380 Third St., Laguna Beach. The classes are physically challenging and include moving while playing finger cymbals, and dancing with veils, canes and swords. There is also the opportunity to perform with the group in a recital. The classes are being offered at half the usual price. In addition, a beginning class is held from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Thursdays and intermediate class from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays. Free tax service

IRS trained volunteers will provide free basic tax assistance to those with middle to low income and with simple tax returns every Wednesday and Thursday morning at the Susi Q until April. Tax aid volunteers are trained to assist with filing form 1040 and other schedules including A and B. Call (949) 497-2441 for a free appointment.

Ballroom dancing lessons

Ballroom dancing lessons are offered on Mondays at the Susi Q Senior Center, 380 Third St. Beginning lessons are from 1 to 2 p.m. and intermediate lessons are from 2 to 3 p.m. Each session costs $7. Couples and singles are welcome; appropriate shoes are required. To sign up, call (949) 497-2441.

Legacy letter writing

A legacy letter writing workshop will take place from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesdays beginning March 23 at the Susi Q Senior Center. The cost is $75 and prepayment is required. To register, call (949) 4907-2441.

Computer assistance clinic

Marianna Spoelder will provide basic computer assistance every Thursday afternoon from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Susi Q. Spoelder will assist with the Internet, navigating websites, e-mail, word processing, file management and digital photo basics. The cost is $10 per session or $20 for 3 sessions. 20th Century reviewed

The Bowers Museum will present a program titled, “20th Century in Review,” from 1:30 to 4 p.m. March 11. Each decade will be discussed, highlighting such historical figures and events as Teddy Roosevelt, the Panama Canal, the Roaring ‘20s, the Great Depression, Route 66, fashion, the first television program, hippies, etc. Free.

AARP driver course offered

AARP will present a four-hour driver safety course for those who have taken the eight-hour driver safety course within the past three years, from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. March 31 at the Susi Q Senior Center. This refresher course is focused on safe driving strategies and defensive driving techniques. Course participants may be eligible to receive a discount on auto insurance premiums.
