A Fountain Valley man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of sexually battering a 16-year-old girl.

Police said Thursday that Scott Moore, 54, registered as a sex offender with the city in accordance with state law.

Moore was previously convicted in 1991 for rape by force and oral copulation by force or fear. He was released from jail in 1995, according to the California Megan’s Law database.

While authorities were performing a compliance check, police say they learned that Moore allegedly sexually battered a minor. Moore was subsequently arrested and booked into Orange County jail.

Moore is currently being held on a bail of $35,000 and, according to jail records, will appear at the Central Justice Center on Monday.
