Woman suspected of stealing rapper DMX’s watch, money at Costa Mesa hotel

Rapper DMX has been accused of sexual assault by a woman who was arrested at the Ayres Hotel and Suites in Costa Mesa on suspicion of stealing from him.

A woman arrested on suspicion of stealing celebrity rapper DMX’s watch and money has accused him of sexually assaulting her, according to Costa Mesa police.

The 25-year-old Hawthorne resident, whose name is being withheld, told police that DMX, aka Earl Simmons, sexually assaulted her before police arrived Saturday morning to the Ayres Hotel and Suites, 325 Bristol St., around 7 a.m.

Police said they are investigating the woman’s claims, but have not arrested Simmons, 45, of Arizona. After talking with her, she was arrested on suspicion of grand theft.

She has since posted bail and been released from custody, according to police.

Police were first informed of an altercation between a man and woman at the hotel just before 7 a.m.
