THOUGHTS FROM THE SCENE: The Fourth of July is always a fun holiday

for a photographer to shoot. The possibilities are endless. It turned out

to be pretty peaceful, except for the many alcohol-related arrests, like

the one in the photo above, that were made in Newport Beach.

The situation with police and people partying always make for

interesting photos. Just going down to West Newport to check out the

scene was fun. Everyone wants you to take their picture. The camera

strapped to your shoulder makes you an instant celebrity. After awhile, I

found the pictures I needed and headed to my next assignment at Crystal

Cove for their last Fourth of July celebration. After that, I topped the

day off with fireworks at the Dunes.
