Harbor Patrol deputies continued with a low-key search for a missing

Costa Mesa man Saturday, officials said.

Jason Huntress, 33, was last seen the afternoon of July 4 when he was

reportedly swimming in Emerald Bay near Laguna Beach. Harbor Patrol

divers have been out in boats since looking for Huntress.

On Saturday, there were no patrol boats or divers, just deputies

monitoring the area, said Sgt. Ron Peoples.

“It’s not anything unusual,” he said. “We’ve had drowning victims

surface as early as 24 hours in some cases, and in other cases it even

took up to a week.”
